Hey there, friends!
Today’s post is going to be a quick update on my blogging journey.
Most of my free time these days has gone to growing my social media platforms to drive more traffic to my posts. This has taken a lot of mental energy to stay on top of shares and reciprocating follows with other bloggers, but it’s been so fun!
Like I mentioned in my previous blog update from October, I did end up cutting down on weekly content. Before, I was posting four or five times a week, and that was leading to burnout. Since then, I have been scheduling one post per week, and although this has cut down on my views, I am finding that my viewer count is still increasing in proportion to the number of posts.
For example, in the month of November, I posted 25 times with an outcome of 752 views.
In January, I posted 11 times with an outcome of 683 views. That means I had almost as many views with half as many posts!
The month of February currently has 6 published posts with a view count of 344.
Therefore, although I am not writing as much content per month, my views are still increasing.
For those of you who may be new to blogging, I make these update posts to encourage you not to give up. Growth is slow. As you can see, I am not one of those blogs that has 10k views a month, and I am perfectly ok with that. I know anything worth while takes a long time to create, and the followers I do have are all genuine, kind people who interact regularly.
My blog is officially one year old this month (from when I started back up on a routine schedule), and in that one year I have almost 300 wordpress followers, as well as around 700 total followers across my social media platforms.
The cool thing about blogging is that if you continue to share and engage with your community, this number increases quickly. Like a snowball effect, the more you work, the more rewards you will see. That means that February 2020 will hopefully see twice this growth, if not more, bringing me to 600 followers on wordpress and 1400 followers across all SM platforms.
I have not yet monetized my site, as I am still using WordPress.com instead of WordPress.org. I plan to switch platforms in October of this year when my yearly subscription to WP.com expires.
The goals I have for my blog this year include:
- Reach 500 WordPress followers
- Reach 2000 total followers
- Post 2 times per week
- Continuing my Antiquarius.org domain under WordPress.org
- Monetizing my site
- Collaborate with other bloggers on a post or giveaway
- Write 1 sponsored post
I hope this post has inspired you and motivated you to continue on your blogging journey. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding blogging. I’d be happy to help new bloggers out! And if you have any tips or relevant posts, please share them in a comment!
